Privacy policy

In short: QuietLine has no account and doesn't upload your contacts. Your trusted list, your activity and your settings stay on your phone. The only part that uses the internet is the small ad, shown by Google AdMob without personalisation.
1. Who we are
QuietLine™ is made and published by Controlled Systems Group Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17118598), registered office 58 Broton Drive, Halstead, England, CO9 1HB. QuietGuard™ is a brand of the same company. We are the controller of personal data for QuietLine. You can reach us at support@quietguard.io.
2. What stays on your phone
QuietLine doesn't need an account, and we don't run a server for it. These things are kept only on your phone, inside QuietLine:
- your trusted contacts and profiles (the names and numbers you chose to trust);
- the activity log: the calls QuietLine kept quiet, with the number, the name if it is in your contacts, and the date and time;
- your settings, such as the Quiet timer, light or dark, and your language.
We can't see any of this, and we don't receive it. Android's automatic backup is switched off for QuietLine, so this information isn't copied to your Google account either. If you uninstall QuietLine, it is deleted from your phone.
3. Your contacts
QuietLine reads your contacts only so you can choose who to trust and so it can show names in Activity. It never changes your contacts, and it never uploads them.
4. How calls are checked
When a call comes in, Android asks QuietLine, as your call screening app, whether the call should ring. QuietLine compares the number with your trusted list on the phone. Nothing about the call is sent to us or to anyone else.
5. Ads
QuietLine is free, and a small banner ad on a few screens helps pay for it. The ads come from Google AdMob, a Google service.
- We ask only for non-personalised ads: they aren't based on your interests or on other apps you use.
- QuietLine doesn't use your phone's advertising ID; the permission for it is removed from the app.
- Where the law requires it (for example in the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland), Google's consent message asks for your choice before any ad is shown.
- To show ads, count them and prevent fraud, Google may process information such as your device type, your IP address and your approximate location, under Google's own policy. We don't receive this information.
More about this from Google: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
6. Permissions, and why
Android asks you before QuietLine can use any of these. You can change them at any time in your phone's settings.
- Contacts (read only): to choose the people you trust and show names in Activity.
- Phone and call screening: Android's call screening role lets QuietLine decide which calls ring; the phone state tells it when a call is coming in.
- Notifications: to show you that QuietLine is on.
- Alarms and reminders (exact alarms): so the Quiet timer ends on the minute you chose.
- Starting after a restart: so protection keeps working when your phone turns back on.
- Internet: only for the ad. Your trusted list and your activity are never sent.
7. Children
Parents can set up QuietLine on a child's phone. QuietLine itself collects no personal information from anyone, children included. The ads are non-personalised and limited to content rated for general audiences.
8. Your choices and rights
Because your information stays on your phone, you are in control: you can remove trusted contacts in QuietLine, or uninstall it to delete everything it keeps. For what Google processes for ads, see Google's policy above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK (ico.org.uk) or to the data protection authority where you live.
9. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll publish the new version on this page with a new date.
